Work package 5

Climate impact and mitigation

M6-M48

Objectives

Assessment of the impact of abiotic stress (e.g. temperatures, light, altered precipitation, etc.) at both individual and plant community, and agro-ecosystem levels (cultivated plants - grasslands, trees, and arable crops, etc.). Design of mitigation methods based on new robotic and digitalization practices.

Task 5.1 Impact of abiotic factors

A set of methods will be tested to identify and quantify the damaging effects of climate-related abiotic stresses on trees, grasslands, arable crops, and animals. It uses data acquired from sensors at different spatial and temporal scales. Specifically, drought, temperature and light factors are studied to characterize performance and fitness, providing understandable and actionable indices for end-users

Task 5.2 Agro-technical and agro-ecological practices for mitigation

This task focuses on quantifying the environmental impacts, e.g., GHG emissions, associated with robotized operations in cereal and intercrop production. Advanced assessment methods including life cycle assessment (LCA) and dedicated process and system simulated software will be employed using farming data. The mitigation potential of innovative robotized practices is evaluated using the mentioned assessment methods.

Task 5.3

Reporting and Experiments (AU, all partners involved in the WP) (All DCs involved in the WP) Proposals are tested with real data and end-users provided by the Pilots. Based on the data engineering solutions of WPs 1-3, reporting systems for end-users will be proposed.
